Child hunger in the Philippines is real and solvable
Millions of children in the Philippines go to school without eating. Malnutrition affects cognitive development, school attendance, and long-term outcomes. The problem is not invisible — it plays out in classrooms and barangays every single day.
What is sometimes lacking is not awareness, but consistent, localized action. Helping Hungry Hearts was founded to be exactly that: a consistent, localized, dignifying response to child hunger in specific communities — not a broad program, but a real mobile kitchen with real food.
The dream began between Jeff Salve and his wife. They wanted to return to the Philippines not as tourists, but as providers. This charity is the fulfilment of that dream.
